Mora Law Office Files Suit Against Rick’s Cabaret in New Orleans
The Mora Law Office filed a collective action on behalf of exotic dancers against Rick’s Cabaret in New Orleans, alleging violations of wage and hour laws. In particular, the lawsuit alleges that Rick’s has misclassified dancers as “independent contractors” and is illegally requiring them to give a portion of tips back to management. There’s a lot of misinformation about the lawsuit on comments.
The article quotes Alexandra Mora: “Hopefully, because of this lawsuit, [Rick’s Cabaret] would have to change their practices and dancers would be subject to greater protections under the law, which would have other beneficial effects.”
If you want to know your rights, be sure to talk to a lawyer and not a commentator!
