Alexandra Mora

Alexandra Mora has a wide variety of experience from her many years of legal work on state and federal levels. Alexandra began practicing law in 1995 and spent several years as a staff attorney for a national nonprofit organization, fighting civil rights cases across the country. Alexandra grew up near New York City, but moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane Law School, where she studied the common law and civil law. She passed the New York and Louisiana bars but, ultimately, chose Louisiana as her home, and opened her New Orleans office in 2000. Alexandra lives in uptown New Orleans with her daughter, and two dogs.

Alexandra’s family is Latin American, but also has roots in Switzerland. She speaks Spanish, and French.

Alexandra received her J.D. from Tulane Law School, graduating cum laude. At Tulane she won awards for her work on Moot Court, with the Jessup International Law Competition. She was also Senior Notes and Comments Editor of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal.

Alexandra Mora has published articles and contributed to treatises. She published an article on maritime law, Navigating the Waters of Forum-Selection Clauses in Maritime Employment Contracts, 12 U.S. F. Mar. L.J. 115 (1999-2000). She was a state law contributor for Louisiana for a ground-breaking publication by BNA called, “Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Discrimination in the Workplace: A Practical Guide.” She has also contributed to publications in other areas of employment law, including the Fair Labor Standards Act. She has successfully resolved numerous employment cases ranging from discrimination to breach of contract, in federal, state and arbitration fora.

Alexandra received her undergraduate degree in political science from the State University of New York at Binghamton, B.A.

She is admitted to practice in Louisiana and New York, and is admitted in various federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.

Diplomacy

Besides her work as an attorney, Alexandra Mora was appointed Honorary Consul of Switzerland for New Orleans in 2008. As part of her consular work in New Orleans, Alexandra Mora is a member of the Louisiana Consular Corps, serving on its executive committee. She is also a member of the New Orleans World Trade Center.

Alexandra Mora is committed to diplomacy. After stepping down as President of the New Orleans Citizen Diplomacy Council or “NOCDC,” Alexandra Mora remains on the board, serving the international community in New Orleans, and hosting visitors from around the world. Diplomacy can be as simple as “one hand shake at a time.”

Licensed Realtor

In 2018, Attorney Alexandra Mora passed the examination to be licensed as a real estate sales person in Louisiana.

Reiki

Alexandra Mora has an interest in healing arts and Japanese Culture. She has studied traditional Jikiden Reiki with Frank Arjava Petter, and western Reiki with William Rand of the International Center for Reiki Training.

City Planning

Alexandra Mora was appointed Commissioner of the City of New Orleans Planning Commission, October 2014 — 2016.
